Outstanding opportunity- Six-time Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps, the first American – and the only person in a non-boycotted Olympic Games – to win eight Olympic medals in a single Games, six of them gold, is coming to Houston in April 16th to conduct a swim clinic for Houston area swimmers. The Brenham Dolphins has 30 passes to this event! Phelps, along with Gold medallist Ian Crocker, the current world record holder in the 50m fly, 100m fly, 100m free and 400m medley relay, will be instructing at this event. This is April 16th, at the Cy-Fair Fleet swimming pool. Our 30 passes will be given to our swimmers, starting with the oldest swimmers first, who commit to attend.
Volunteers- We can’t have dolphins without volunteers. We need everyone to be helping out somehow. Please sign-up. Don’t be surprised if you get a phone call asking you to help in a specific spot if you don’t sign up.
We still need…………………………………………………………..
Officials-Our head referee this year is John Faulk
(John
will make a brief appeal for additional officials, and describe
the training
process)
Sponsors- Pooltex has donated all of our team t-shirts
We are looking for other sponsors to sponsor the meet programs, and are looking for individuals or businesses to sponsor a swimmer, by donating 1 or more scholarships. (@ 125.00 each)
During practice times- responsibility of coaches
Waiting for practice or just after—Not coaches responsibility or aquatic
center staff’s job to baby-sit your kids. There will be a room up front with
tables and chairs for your kids to do homework. We’ll need a parent to sit
in this room to keep this room quiet. We need help from other parents to
make sure the kids aren’t running wild in the halls, or outside. The aquatic
center is used by a number of elderly individuals and we don’t want
someone hurt by a running kid! We will be able to use the playground if we have a parent supervising!
Meet event signup- Last year’s notebook worked fairly well.
We need to know what events your kids would like to swim.
They can swim up to 3 individual events and up to 2 relays.
Signup must be by Tuesday, by the end of practice.
We recommend that you sign up your kids for their events for the entire season, and then make changes if necessary. If your kids are not signed up for an event, they won’t be swimming. We can’t read your mind.
If you know you are not going to be at a meet, please draw one line through your child’s name, and write a reason, such as out of town, summer camp,
Etc. If you know you have to leave early, please write “No Relays” on the
Page signup. If you have ever had to explain to 3 crying kids that they
Suddenly can’t swim a relay because so and so left early is not a lot of fun!
The kids really count on swimming those relays!
Sign-in at the team tent with the team communicator as soon as you arrive.
If you have a last minute change, such as sickness, or vehicle problem,
Call Ellen’s cell phone at 421-3699. Also, Ellen plans not only telling kids what relays they will be swimming, but posting the individuals swimming at the team tent! If you must leave early, please check out at the team tent so they won’t be looking for you, and can inform the other relay swimmers about not swimming.
The most major meet of the season is Divisionals.
This year, the meet is June 25th at
Also, as a reminder, swimmers must swim in at least two meets to be able to swim in the divisional meet, and swimmers have to swim an event in a dual meet and have a legal time, to be eligible to swim that event at divisionals.
There are two additional invitational meets this year.
There is now a 2nd meet at the same time as Summer Champs.
There is now a post
