Brenham Dolphins Brief History:

In 1985, interested parents, with the help from the Navasota swim team, organized a dual meet between Brenham youth and the Navasota swim team. The following year, 1986, a team of approximately 30 swimmers was chartered with N.W.A.L (the Northwest Aquatic League).  In the beginning years, the Dolphins swam at the old City of Brenham pool and moved to the Brenham Country Club in the early 1990’s. The team roster continued to grow throughout the years, with 150 swimmers participating in the 2005 swim season.  It is because of this youth emphasis on competitive swimming, that Brenham High School added a swim team in 2000, and swim parents spearheaded the community building the Blue Bell Aquatic Center, a state of the art 5.2 million dollar facility with a 25 yard, 6 lane indoor competitive pool with fully electronic Colorado timing system that the Dolphins now call home. This facility also has an indoor therapy pool and an outdoor recreational pool with 25 foot water slide, and numerous play features. The City of Brenham ,in future years, may become the sponsor and organizer for the Brenham Dolphins, providing further community support that is currently offered by other area NWAL teams.
